The Mayor’s Challenge Exhibition showcases bold and visionary student concepts for the future of the West Fyans–Fyans Street Precinct in Newtown.

Responding to the Mayor’s challenge, Deakin University students have explored innovative concepts for an important area for residential development, creating diverse and quality living, working and community environments. Their designs reconnect the precinct with the Barwon River while celebrating and reimagining its industrial heritage.

The exhibition showcases a selection of student work, including the winner of the Mayor’s Prize. The winning design demonstrates innovation, creativity and design-led thinking, reflecting Geelong’s status as a UNESCO City of Design.

Join us to celebrate the students, announce the Mayor’s Prize winner and discover how the next generation of designers are imagining a more connected, vibrant and future-focused Geelong.
