Rising Lines is a limited-edition collaborative publication by five artists: Dr Fiona Lee, Katey O’Sullivan, Laurie Oxenford, Dr Amber Smith and Penne Thornton and explores the subtleties of rising climate anxiety.
With images by Colin Maier, Penne Thornton and Ranch Pressing, and editing, design, print and binding by Ranch Pressing, the edition of 30 weaves together personal narratives around bloodlines, floodlines, fire risk and the quiet fears of ageing, revealing a deeper, rising global fear.
The book itself becomes part of the story: no text appears above a waterline until a fire rainbow emerges at the story’s climax, creating a powerful visual metaphor for rising anxiety and environmental change.
Rising Lines offers a thoughtful intersection of writing, image-making and publication design, inviting audiences to consider how creative practice can give form to complex and increasingly urgent climate emotions.
