Developed in collaboration with the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners, Nyaal Banyul reflects cultural stories, connections to Country and ongoing traditions. Meaning ‘open your eyes to the hills’, the venue invites us to look more closely, listen, learn and see Geelong from a new perspective.
Throughout Nyaal Banyul, artwork meets you at every turn. Many of the works have been created by First Peoples artists, with their voices and stories woven into the heart of the venue. From artworks and murals to architecture, interiors and landscaping, Wadawurrung culture and Country are embedded throughout the precinct.
Cultural artefacts from the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation are also on display, adding depth to the expression of local First Nations culture and creating further opportunities to connect with the stories of this place.
