Textile waste is one of the world’s fastest-growing environmental problems and Deakin University’s Future Fibres Facility is one of the places tackling it head-on.

Step behind the scenes for a tour of this leading research space, home to the only cotton spinning line in Australia, where recovered and locally grown fibres are being turned into the sustainable, circular materials of the future.

Led by facility manager Dr Dylan Hegh, this one-hour tour and talk follows fibre from raw material to spun yarn, showing how next-generation research is designing out waste and rebuilding local manufacturing.

See the machinery, meet the researchers, and rethink where your clothes come from.

Suitable for all ages and backgrounds — no prior knowledge needed, just curiosity.
