Artists and facilitators Kate VM Sylvester (@K_V_M_S) and Lazarus Gordon (@QueeryThis) present the latest project from their sustainable design and advocacy collaboration, Our Circular Collective (@OurCircularCollective).

Taking over a former fast-fashion space in Geelong’s old Rivers Clothing Store on Malop Street, Wasted Space transforms a place once dedicated to selling fashion into a hub for circular design, creativity and conversation during Geelong Design Week.

At its heart is a gallery of local creatives transforming clothing and textiles destined for landfill, demonstrating the possibilities of giving waste a new and sustainable future. Alongside the exhibition, visitors can explore a circular fashion shop featuring ready-to-wear secondhand pieces, reimagined originals and garments waiting for your own creative take.

The space will also host panel discussions with leading researchers in textile circularity and sustainable creatives, exploring how art, design and science can work together to create a more circular future.

More than an exhibition or shop, Wasted Space is a community hub for the circular curious — a place to meet, learn, experiment, share ideas and discover new possibilities for the materials we too often throw away.

Come curious. Leave inspired. Rethink what we waste.
