A zine (pronounced ‘zeen’) is a handmade, self-published booklet used to share ideas, artwork, stories, photography, comics and more. Often photocopied and independently produced, zines are all about creativity, self-expression and sharing your ideas with the community.
As part of Geelong Design Week 2026, join zinester Glen Smith for a fun and hands-on introduction to all things zines. Explore different zine styles and formats, create your own single-sheet eight-page zine, and contribute to a collaborative community zine during the session.
Whether you love drawing, writing, collage, design or simply want to try something new, this welcoming workshop is a chance to get creative and learn about an exciting alternative creative format.
